Classic Colonial Models |
||||
|
Inspired by Italian Renaissance style and developed in England in the mid-eighteenth century, the Colonial style home quickly spread to the English colonies. Very popular in America from 1690 to 1830, the Colonial has gained its revival around the country in our modern day. Defining characteristics are its rectangular, symmetrical shape, central door, and aligned windows on the first and second floor. English-style Colonials were ideally in brick with wood trim and wooden columns painted white. American Colonials found both brick and wood buildings with clapboards, usually painted white, though sometimes a pale yellow. Adding a columned porch to our Classic Colonials completes the architectural style. |
